Engagement

Nurturing a relational culture requires the inclusion of all community members. In the context of a school this will include staff, administration, students, parents/caregivers. Providing folks with various opportunities to engage with Restorative Justice and relationality is key. Some possible ideas to encourage engagement include:

  • Creating a welcoming environment

  • Inviting your neighbours (business owners, community residents, postal carriers, delivery services, etc.) to partake in dialogue about how we might all contribute to the neighbourhood more fully

  • Identifying and preparing youth in your community to work restoratively as peer facilitators

  • Making connections between folks who are trained in Restorative Justice and those who are interested in learning more

  • Consulting with community groups who specialize in relational ways of being and bring them to the table in planning ways to help interest grow
