Engagement
Nurturing a relational culture requires the inclusion of all community members. In the context of a school this will include staff, administration, students, parents/caregivers. Providing folks with various opportunities to engage with Restorative Justice and relationality is key. Some possible ideas to encourage engagement include:
Creating a welcoming environment
Inviting your neighbours (business owners, community residents, postal carriers, delivery services, etc.) to partake in dialogue about how we might all contribute to the neighbourhood more fully
Identifying and preparing youth in your community to work restoratively as peer facilitators
Making connections between folks who are trained in Restorative Justice and those who are interested in learning more
Consulting with community groups who specialize in relational ways of being and bring them to the table in planning ways to help interest grow
